Ah, Christmas. That wonderful time of year when families come together and all is joyful….until the inevitable foot-in-mouth situation.

I love that there are now children around again at Christmas. But three years ago I was teetering on the edge of post-partum depression, fueled by an epic family disagreement (one day to be the subject of a post). Modern Miracles

BabyBoy and BabyGirl have been ill. With some sort of bug. Nothing too serious, just miserable.

BabyBoy got it first. Not knowing what we were dealing with we kept an eye on him for a few days. On day 4 we took him to the doctor. The doctor prescribed antibiotics. Continue reading

I had gorgeous babies…and I didn’t realize

Even before BabyBoy and BabyGirl were born, I was teetering on the edge of depression. The thought of having twins terrified me, because that wasn’t in the plan. When they arrived, healthy and perfect, I tumbled headlong down the rabbit hole of postnatal depression into denial, doubt, panic, resentment at not being ‘normal’ and wondering whether escape was an option.

Here are this week’s musings:

1. Oops, almost forgot to write this this week!

2. BabyBoy and BabyGirl seem to be getting one bug after another.

3. I’m hoping it’ll build up their immunity…

4. BabyBoy is going through a super-cute phase of launching himself on me for hugs – love it!

5. ‘Never grow a wishbone, daughter, where your backbone ought to be’ is such an awesome quote that I’m thinking of having it framed and put up in the nursery.

6. But I’ll delete the word ‘daughter’ so that it can be relevant to BabyBoy as well as BabyGirl.

Something’s not quite right

‘So, no real fever. Vomiting?’
No.
‘Rash?’
No.
‘Appetite decreased?’
No.
‘Sleep affected?’
No.

The doctor looked at me with a little laugh.

‘So why have you brought him in?’ she murmured rhetorically as she started to examine BabyBoy.
